DIVING BOARD SAFETY

1. Swimmers must stay out of diving area when it's in use. Always check with the lifeguards before using the diving board.

2. Only one person on the diving board at a time.

3. No sitting on, or hanging from the board. Please do not climb onto the board from the side. Use the ladder provided.

4. No running on the board and only one bounce is allowed.

5. Jump or dive straight ahead when going off the board. Then quickly swim out of the way to the nearest ladder and climb out.

6. Swimmers waiting to use the board must wait until the diving area is clear before they step on the board for use.

7. When jumping from the side of the pool, please do so only from the same wall as the diving board. Check with the lifeguards if you have any questions.

8. Children who wish to jump from the board should be able to surface without help. Parents may help their children reach the wall from the side of the pool.

9. Parents should not wait in the water and catch their children from under the board. This is a safety hazard.

10. When in doubt, please ask a lifeguard for help or to answer any questions.

Reminders:

1. Please clean up the space around you before exiting the pool.

2. Please only put emptied cans and bottles and paper in our blue recycling containers. Please do not place trash or food in these containers. It creates a huge mess. And, of course, no glass of any kind on the pool deck.

3. Please remember to roll down your purple table umbrella, when you are not using it or leave your space as the wind will gust through and break our brand-new umbrellas.

4. We will have seasoned, as well as new lifeguards, from our membership community working. They will be guarding the pool as well as overseeing our Covid protocols. They will be enforcing the policies set forth by the State Department of Health, the PLC Board of Directors and the Club Manager. Our guards do not set any rules, regulations, or policies but merely implement them. Our guards need to be obeyed and respected at all times. The board fully supports policies set by DOH and has instructed all staff to enforce those policies. If any member has questions about policies, please contact the Club Manager at clubmanager@phantomlakeclub.org

Failure to comply with PLC/COVID policies:

First offense – verbal warning

Second offense – written warning

Third offense – suspension of membership

5. PLC will allow some floats in the pool. Rings and moderately sized floats, preferably clear will be allowed. Please no ride-on or extremely large floats. AND the guards on duty will have final say whether the float you bring will be allowed in the pool. The lifeguard’s top priority is to keep ALL members safe while in the pool. And if your float makes that harder for them, well it will just have to lounge on the deck and enjoy the sunshine while you swim. You may encounter some inconsistency between which guard allows which floats. Different guards will have different comfort levels. That’s okay! We can all be flexible, understanding and supportive of our guards. However, no matter what you bring there will be no floats allowed in the ‘diving board’ section of the pool, it’s just not safe. And no jumping from the deck onto a float in the water. Thanks!
